Best Film Looks for Street Photography

Contrast, grain and speed — looks that suit uncontrolled light and fast decisions.

Street work is shot in whatever light exists, usually quickly, often at ISO 400 or faster. The looks that suit it are forgiving of exposure error and have enough contrast to survive flat overcast conditions. Traditional-grain black and white dominates for historical reasons that are also practical ones, but the muted colour simulations have become the modern default.
